    Since 2004, I have worked as a part-time consultant for the Radioactive Materials License Licensing Section and the Uranium and Technical Assessments Section, within the Office of Permitting and Registration. In this capacity, my job has been to analyze the socioeconomic impacts of low-level radioactive waste facilities and uranium processing facilities, including the following projects:

    • Uranium Energy Corporation License Application for Uranium Mining in Goliad County, Texas, 2009
    • Rio Grande Resources Corporation License Application for Uranium Mining in Karnes County, Texas, 2009
    • South Texas Mining Venture License Application for Uranium Mining in Duval County, Texas, 2009
    • Waste Control Specialists License Application for Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility in Andrews County, Texas, 2004-2008

  • TCS & Starquest Expeditions
    From November 6-19, 2010, I will give a series of lectures during the “World Highlights by Private Jet” tour. The tour includes visits to Istanbul, Cairo, Luxor, the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Petra and Marrakech.

    From April 11-May 2, 2011, I will give a series of lectures during the "Hidden Corners of Eurasia by Private Jet" tour. The trip includes visits to Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Slovakia, and Hungary.


  • Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
    During the spring of 2010, I will give a short course on cultural anthropology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. I also serve as the international advisor for a graduate student at this university.


  • Attorney Carolyn Wentland
    In 2004-5, I served as an expert witness for a capital murder case involving a Kazakh defendant in San Antonio, Texas.
